Going "Yonanas" At An Inaugural Tasting!

By: Anne M. Raso

I recent visited the offices of Trent And Company for their Inaugural Tasting--a press preview of new, health-oriented food products and equipment that are hand-selected by "trend spotter" Nancy Trent (you can actually tweet to her at @thetrendspotter and check out her tweets on the newest kitchen creations that not only taste good but are good for you)!

SousVide Supreme
So, I fell in love with quite a few of the products being demoed to the press but my favorites included The SousVide Supreme--an at-home water oven that utilizes a vacuum-sealed pouch to produce absolutely impeccable results. The results are the tenderest veggies ever! (For more info, go to www.sousvidesupreme.com.) Pictured here are SousVide Supreme water bath and vacuum sealer. It's sister product, the SousVide Vacuum Sealer can be used to seal up food and store it in your freezer as well.
Clean, Lean & Simple Bars
I loved discovering Clean, Lean & Sexy Popcorn because there are only about 14 carbs in a one-ounce bag (and I am a big low carb dieter). This popcorn tastes buttery and slightly salty, which is the perfect combo for most popcorn maniacs. I also fell in love with the Clean, Lean & Sexy Pretzels, which are gluten free--and there are also great gluten free bars in this line. Check out www.cleanleansexy.com for more details. Some of the popcorn at the event was served Paper Chef's colorful Parchment Tulip Cups here, which are great for also baking large muffins in (www.paperchef.com).
Red Jacket Orchards Juices
I washed down my Clean, Lean & Sexy popcorn with the delicious Red Jacket Orchards juices, with the tart cherry juice being my favorite. I love the way these juices are not clear—they leave all the good stuff in, and so the juice tastes like it was just made a minute ago! (See www.redjacketorchards.com for more info.)
Livliga dinnerware
Ever wonder what a correct portion size is--but don't want to act all "picky" in front of your friends by pulling out measuring cups? Livliga users can avoid overeating at every meal with their unique array of dinnerware, serveware and glassware. You just put your portion on the circles and more detailed instructions are actually under the plates--the biggest circle is for one's fish, meat or poultry and approximates four ounces. The measuring lines just look like chic geometric circles. (For more info, go to www.livliga.com.)
Yonanas Demo, courtesy Trent and Co.
My favorite item was the Yonanas machine, which turns frozen fruit into a creamy confection that blows any frozen dessert product commercially available "out of the water"! I tried a concoction of frozen bananas, strawberries and mangos put into the Yonanas and it tasted like soft serve frozen custard. Best of all, it counts as zero Weight Watchers points so you can eat this all day with no guilt! It's a great deal at only $49.99, especially considering that most frozen fruit dessert chains charge at least $5 per small to medium cup of their product. (Go to www.yonanas.com for where to purchase and other info.)
Zucchini Blossoms Photograph, courtesy Trent and Co.
While at Ms. Trent’s office, I also fell in love with the fabulous photography of fruits and vegetables by foodie photog David Bishop. His Zucchini Blossoms pic is a colorful work of art that would look perfect hanging in any kitchen or dining room. He does photo gallery exhibits as well. For more info, go to www.dbishop.net. He currently has photos up for grabs at Glass Houses in Chelsea.
