Inspired by my findings on two of my recent healthy foodie trips, the 2013 Food & Nutrition Conference & Expo (FNCE) in Houston (the Disneyworld of healthy foods - just replace Mickey Mouse with Mr. Peanut) and the Mom's Meet 2013 WOW Summit in Philadelphia (which featured a lot of natural, organic recipe exchanges), I spent some time in my kitchen this week and created a new breakfast concoction that's high in protein, low in carbs, and quick to prepare!
Team Finance Foodie with Mr. Peanut, FNCE 2013 |
"Quad G" Breakfast
Servings: 1
Calories: 490
Protein: 20g
Ingredients
1 Flatout Light Original Wrap (90 cal, 9g protein)
1/4 cup Giovanna Rana brand Marinara sauce (35 cal)
1/3 cup GO Veggie! Dairy Free Mexican Style Cheese Shreds (90 cal, 1g protein)
1/2 tbsp of Bertolli Extra Light Olive Oil (60 cal)
1/2 oz peanuts (85 cal, 3g protein)
1/2 cup olives (40 cal)
1 egg (90 cal, 6g protein)
Dash of GO Veggie! Grated Parmesan Cheese Alternative
salt, sugar to taste
1. Place Flatout Light Wrap in large skillet on LOW heat. This "Better than Sliced Bread" alternative is low in calories and net carbs and high in fiber, protein (and taste, of course). Sprinkle GO Veggie! Dairy Free Mexican Style Cheese Shreds on top to melt. I'm not lactose intolerant, but many of my Asian bros and sis' are - therefore, whenever I stumble upon a dairy free product that actually tastes good - I feel it's my duty to share the wealth!
3. Plate wrap on plate. Top with egg, Giovanna Rana brand Marinara sauce, peanuts, olives, and a dash of GO Veggie! Grated Parmesan Cheese Alternative for extra flavor. Made with a zesty blend of spices and cherry tomato halves, Giovanna Rana's Marinara sauce has a light and fresh taste perfect to ease into the morning. Sprinkle a dash of salt and sugar and enjoy!
4. (Optional) - For those looking to indulge their sweet tooth and looking for a quick substitute for their morning coffee that seems to take forever to brew, I have been eating Awake brand chocolate bars. Now before you scold me for eating dessert for breakfast, I have to say these addicting caffeinated chocolate bars are the perfect pick-me-up (1 bar = 1 cup of coffee) and has the same amount of calories as my usual latte (210 cal).
