I was lucky enough to get on the guest list for the
recent QVC Beauty Event
for print and online press and it was so nice to meet some of the faces
behind the brands--and it was also super fun to say hello and here what's up from my
favorite person in haircare, Chaz Dean (owner of Wen Haircare) and Laura Geller
(the friendly face behind her self-titled line).
Chaz Dean |
Chaz Dean personally styled my hair with the new Wen
Six Thirteen Replenishing Treatment Mist. This is an instant hair pick me up
made with botanicals. It smells so good that many beauty bloggers have taken to
using it as a "foundation fixer" for the day or in my case, using it
as a fragrance as well as in my hair! He also introduced the new Wen Summer
Mango Coconut Cleansing Conditioner. Those of you who know Dean's products for
Wen know that that the Cleansing Conditioner is great for people who want to
wash their hair everyday but do not want the color stripped and who want to
keep the hair soft and moisturized. (Washing hair with a regular shampoo,
especially one with sulfates, will strip the color and dry out the ends when
done everyday.) This product literally smells like a luscious bowl of tropical
fruit--you may want to eat it instead of use it on your hair, but please don't
(LOL)!
Laura Geller |
Laura Geller is famous for simple items that get the
tough jobs done. She was at the QVC Beauty Event to launch Laura Geller Dream
Creams Concealer and Highlighter, which features four creamy stripes of
concealer you can mix and match to your perfect shade. It provides weightless
coverage, enhances skin tone and is available in two shades: Porcelain/Tan and
Regular/Tan. Laura and her team of makeup artists are a joy to work with and
we're happy that despite all her successes (including giving millions of
dollars to charity by donating percentages of her QVC sales), she has kept her
small Upper East Side store. It's still a pleasure to walk in there and get
intimate, customized service.
Other brands on hand included Algenist, PaloVia,
Clarisonic, IT Cosmetics, Philosophy, Fresh, Makeup Forever, Mally, Alterna, Nu
Face, Light Stim, Dr. Perricone, Tarte and Sephora On QVC. Guests were treated
to a lot of the products being offered and the event space (the ground floor of
the Cedar Lake Studios) featured plenty of gorgeous spring floral arrangements
that had the press oohing and aahing as much as the products being promoted.
We're a little backlogged at trying these products but
we hope to be reporting on some of them right here on financefoodie.com in the
coming year. Nothing beats getting to try new products and being able to
discuss with the owners/developers one to one if they will work for you. It's
one of the blessings of being a blogger. We especially look forward to trying
IT Cosmetics Anti-Aging Celebration Foundation With Brush, which is said to not
only offer great coverage but also fight the signs of aging with hydrolyzed collagen
and real silk. It's actually the company's first foundation, and it was a joy
to see company head Jamie Kern again. I've been using her brow pencils for a
while now and they are the most natural-looking ones I have come across!
Jamie's always thinking of ways to combine many benefits in one product and
always has anti-aging effects as well as staying power in mind when she creates
new products with her lab technicians.
