Eating Engines Revved at the Huntington Westin Copley Place

By: Jessica Cickay

Although sunshine and 70 degree temps are wonderful, there’s something to be said about waking up on a Saturday, completely drained from a long week of work, and seeing cloudy skies and rain pelting against your windows. These unmotivating weather conditions are the ideal forecast to help motivate my tired behind to get to brunch, and in The Huntington at The Westin Copley Place in downtown Boston, I found the most delicious weekend spot to refuel, relax and reenergize for sunny skies to come.

When it comes to brunch, I’m a buffet-all-the-way kind of gal, and The Huntington’s setup certainly showed my stomach a good time. The Saturday brunch buffet offers an indulgent variety of fresh fruits, cereals, pastries, eggs, pancakes, plus an omelet bar and a Belgian waffle station where the giant bowl of fresh whipped cream alone made me happy with hunger! Right off the bat, the chefs treated us to a gorgeous, sleek starter to get our eating engines revved. We were presented with a thick and creamy blueberry banana smoothie shot, geometrically cut fresh fruit and a spoonful of oatmeal brulee. The oatmeal brulee was the standout, topped with tart granny smith apple and burnt brown sugar. Delicious!
Over at the buffet, the omelets were really stellar. The eggs weren’t dry, but they weren’t wet and runny either. The veggies didn’t just get stuffed into a folded blanket of egg, but instead were evenly distributed throughout. Don’t they always say that the sign of a real chef is how well they can cook an egg? Well, I think The Huntington has a real chef on their hands…
Mountains of fresh fruit always appeal to me, and The Huntington’s selection was ripe, fresh and ever-available (I hate when things run out at a buffet, but that never seemed to happen here). Silver dollar pancakes always get me into trouble – “They’re so small, I can eat like 35, right?! – and The Huntington’s were so delicious, my conscience and willpower stood no chance!. Perfectly griddled and deep with sweetness, these tiny pillows of pancake almost took on a donut-like flavor profile, and that’s a compliment in my book! But don’t get me wrong – The Huntington’s ala carte brunch menu is top-notch as well, offering a range of comforting breakfast classics and over-the-top omelets, as well as their signature SuperFoods menu boasting healthy and portioned-control options to fill you up without filling you out.
Their pride and joy – and for good reason – seems to be the cleverly concocted “Copley Square”, a well-rounded sampling of sweet, savory and satisfying. A shot of a bright orange mango smoothie and beautifully cut fresh fruit are the healthier components of this cleverly conceptualized breakfast. To make sure you feel pampered, diners also get to indulge in a fluffy yet crisp Belgian waffle drizzled with chocolate syrup, and a perfectly poached eggs benedict sitting atop a buttery, thick cut English muffin and smothered in a decadent citrus hollandaise. The Huntington is a great option for breakfast or brunch for anyone in Boston: business men and women, tourists, hotel guests and even long-time residents. You don’t have to be staying in The Westin Copley Place to enjoy a little taste of luxury at The Huntington. Breakfast – and by association, brunch – is the most important meal of the day, so let The Huntington get you off on the right foot.
