The Mango Pineapple Smoothie, made using mango and pineapple purees, low-fat yogurt and ice, is McDonald’s new addition to their Real Fruit Smoothie line. Due to my disappointment in the Strawberry Lemonade, I was slightly hesitant to try their newest summer drink. However, after a twenty minute walk outside in the sweltering afternoon sun, I was in desperate need of a respite from the heat -- and nothing screams "cool-off!" for me better than an ice cold smoothie.
So what did I think? Well, the smoothie was surprisingly good! The smoothie smelled like a real mango and was very refreshing. The consistency was smooth and there was no sickeningly sweet after taste (unlike the Strawberry Lemonade). Now obviously, the McD's smoothies can't compare to my homemade smoothies, but it's a great alternative to when my lazy bum doesn't feel like chopping up fruits and washing dishes! Plus, now that I'm a poor graduate student, I probably won't have the luxury of stocking my fridge with real mangos and pineapples on a daily basis.

My favorite way to cool off in the summertime is to sit in our backyard under a big tree so it's shady, have a big glass of ice water handy, and enjoy the birds singing. We have a lot of song birds in our backyard.
I like to run through the sprinkler!
