So another Fashion Week in New York as come and gone. The frenzied fashionistas have returned home and Bryant Park is calm and serene once again.
As I think back to some of the shows I attended last week, I can’t help but think about how the Spring/Summer 2010 runways can be translated to work, eat, and play life in Boston. Below are some ideas for outfits that will ensure that all eyes are on you wherever you go.
Lela Rose
This lady-like look from Lela Rose is perfect for the career girl going straight from her office to a dinner date in the South End. The bold color-blocking combined with the subtle feminine detailing in this outfit is sure to win points in both the boardroom and with the boyfriend.
Wear this look to: your day job in the Financial District; South End hotspots Stella, Toro, and Tremont 647
Georges Chakra
The lady that wears this gown from Georges Charkra will definitely be crowned “Best Dressed” of the night. This Grecian-inspired dress takes breathes away with its intricate shoulder cutout and bright sunflower colored fabric. The Swarovski crystal embellishments are perfect for catching the spotlight on the dance floor or eye of an admirer from across the room.
Wear this look to: black tie parties like the Museum of Fine Arts’ Summer Soiree, the Night of the Monarch Gala, and Boston Ballet Ball
Thuy
This playful zippered number was a crowd pleaser at this up and coming designer’s show at the Tents. This edgy yet wearable look is the perfect dress for dancing all night at the clubs (well, until 2am at least).
Wear this look to: Restaurants that turn into late night dance clubs like Mantra, Foundation Lounge, and 33
Christian Siriano
At one of the most star-studded shows of the week (sightings: Tim Gunn, Tori Spelling, Alessandra Ambrosio, many Bravo personalities), this My Fair Lady-esq number caught my eye as the perfect outfit for an outdoors weekend brunch on Newbury Street. Just don’t forget your Tide-to-go bleaching pen!
Wear this look to: Stephanie’s on Newbury, Cafeteria, and other tres-chic brunch places with outdoor seating
Carmen Marc Valvo
Held in the NASDAQ building, fashion met finance at the Carmen Marc Valvo presentation on Sunday night. The swimwear were as glamorous and exquisite as the evening gowns, an ideal look for lounging by the pool on a hot summer day!
Wear this look to: The Colonnade Hotel’s rooftop pool in the Summer, The Four Season Boston's indoor pool in the Spring
